What’s with the name?
In te reo Māori, kapiti means to bring together. This substack seeks to bring together insights from different fields and forms of analysis to apply these lenses to climate change policy and carbon markets.
In addition, I grew up on the Kāpiti/Kapiti Coast (in the small town of Paekākāriki). So the name is a small nod to home (disputes over macron aside), and what connects me to Aotearoa even as I write this on the other side of the world.
Who are you?
My name is Kristen Green. I worked for the New Zealand Government on climate policy for the better part of the last decade. Most recently I worked as a Principal Advisor at MPI on climate change policy settings for agriculture, forestry and land use (predominantly focused on carbon pricing, including the NZ ETS). I’m currently living in London, doing contract work for organisations on climate change.
